After returning to the WWE fold on NXT last week, former leader of The Nexus (and The Corre) Wade Barrett is looking to find a long-term home behind the announce desk. According to sources speaking with PWInsider, Wade Barrett and WWE are currently negotiating for his full-time return as an announcer, presumably on NXT. He’s gained experience in the role since leaving WWE in 2016, providing commentary for WCPW and the revived NWA.
WWE has had an interest in bringing Barrett back in as an announcer throughout 2020, similar to the confirmed plans that a Nexus reunion was planned around this year’s WrestleMania. In a similar manner, plans for his return were likely stalled due to the global pandemic. It’s also unclear if Barrett will perform any other roles in this capacity or stick behind the desk. We’ve seen fellow WWE 2010s star MVP come in for a one-time appearance that’s morphed into leading his own faction. With someone as talented as Barrett that arguably never got to show his full potential, anything is possible.
