Booker T has some “bad news” for Wade Barrett.
On the October 6, WWE announced that it was shaking up its commentary duos for RAW, SmackDown and NXT. Following the news that Pat McAfee would be focusing on “College Gameday”, Wade Barrett was moved to the blue brand after he had been part of NXT’s broadcast team since 2020. Booker T was then brought in to replace Barrett on NXT.
Speaking on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Booker T discussed his new role on commentary and joked that Barrett will never get the job back.
“Put the title on me, you never gonna get it back, [laughs],” he said. “Gonna hold onto that title forever, what are you thinking? It’s almost like, giving me this NXT job, Wade Barrett’s never gonna get his job back.”
When Satin noted that Barrett previously joked he’d have to fight Booker for his spot once McAfee returns to SmackDown, the WWE Hall of Famer quipped, “They might send him back to England [laughs], we’re having budget cuts.”
