In this week’s edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE actively pursued Hulk Hogan for a non-wrestling role in WrestleMania 36’s festivities. It’s unclear what the role would have been and if the role would have still been valid in the altered version fo the PPV we eventually got thanks to the global pandemic. However, it didn’t get beyond the bargaining stage due to money issues.
They did want Hogan for this year’s WrestleMania but the two sides couldn’t come to financial terms. This would not be to wrestle, but for an appearance
The former WWF golden boy was on the outs with the company for years due do his diminished reputation after the Gawker trial, but has returned to the fold more recently. Hulk appeared briefly at last year’s Mania and on recent Saudi shows, but not in any major angles. Considering the WrestleMania 36 we did get lacked any segments involving legends, it’s possible that Hogan wouldn’t have appeared even if the two sides could have negotiated.
