Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown had a big match associated with it, as Drew Gulak went head-to-head against Shinsuke Nakamura. If Gulak won, it would have secured Daniel Bryan a match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn at WrestleMania 36. Somehow, against all odds, Gulak managed to win, giving Bryan a shot at a title next week.
For a brief recap of how the match ended, check out below:
Nakamura lands a few knee strikes. Gulak explodes out of the corner with a lariat. Gulak stomps Nakamura in the corner. Cesaro pulls Nakamura out of the ring. During the confusion, Nakamura trips Gulak on the apron. Nakamura blast Gulak with a flying knee off the second rope. Gulak kicks out. Nakamura misses the Kinshasa after Bryan pulls Gulak out of the way. Gulak rolls up Nakamura with a prawn hold for the win.
