David Starr & wXw Germany ‘Mutually Decide’ To Part Ways; Reportedly Forced Out By WWE

This past weekend was wXw Germany’s flagship 16-Carat Gold show and it will be David Starr’s last with the promotion.

Starr lost to Bobby Gunns in a title vs. career match for the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship and post-match Starr took to the ring to give a heartfelt goodbye to fans. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting on his Wrestling Observer Radio this morning that Starr’s removal from the promotion was all in part due to the relationship that wXw has with WWE. Starr took to Twitter to briefly address his wXw exit:

“I won’t go into further details regarding wXw on this platform and idk when/if I will in any public setting.

“Like I said, freedom of speech does not mean freedom from consequences and that this mutual decision was one that neither of us wanted to make.

“I love wXw & always will.”

Starr has been very outspoken when it comes to topics surrounding WWE which in turn has made him a very polarizing figure to the pro wrestling titan up in Stamford, CT. There was an instance in which Starr stomped on the WWE NXT UK Championship when he faced WALTER at an Over The Top show in Ireland and then also quit wXw in a promo that integrated “the evil corporation.” Starr also recently got into a Twitter spat with EVOLVE’s Gabe Sapoulsky which is one of the primary promotions WWE has ties with.

Starr operates the We The Independent movement in which he aims to get better working environment for his wrestling colleagues that includes a vision to unionize.
