Jim Cornette Didn’t Like Ric Flair’s B-Day Party On RAW, Talks Bruce Prichard Being WWE’s ‘Savior’

On this week’s episode of the Jim Cornette Experience, the veteran wrestling manager discussed the recent WWE hiring of Bruce Prichard. He called him a “savior,” and explained that he understands what “it” is. Cornette also talked about this week’s RAW and SmackDown.

Check out highlights below:

Why Bruce Prichard is a good hire for WWE:

Vince got the idea, ‘Y’all just don’t get it. You don’t get it.’ It is what Vince wants. We used to joke about this. [Vince] would send some things out by mental telepathy. If you didn’t pick them up then it was your fault because you [should have] known how to portray this guy or what [he wanted]. It is what Vince wants, it’s his vision and thought process. Bruce Prichard gets it. He spent years learning what it is and more than anyone on this planet knows what it is and can convey it to other people.

On Ric Flair’s birthday party on RAW:

You know why I watched RAW this week? Because I wanted to see Ric Flair’s birthday party. You know why I’m not going to watch anymore? I saw what they did for Ric Flair’s birthday party. … Even if they bought tickets before the announcement they came to RAW expecting to see Ric Flair’s birthday party. Flair never even got into the arena! I understand Batista can’t come into the ring and Batista Bomb Flair, but it was a popcorn fart of an ending. Even Batista didn’t appear in front of the crowd! They wonder why their live crowds have no reaction because it’s a shitty live show when you come to see shit and have to watch TV on a big screen or have a bunch of people in the ring talk about something that’s going to happen some other time. There had to be another way that Batista could make an impression. Why was he in the room all alone? Where was his wife? There was no production assistant seconds before he’s supposed to come out on national television. It does not make sense!

On Kofi Kingston:

With the video showcase they made Kofi look like a star. He’s so athletic. He’s done all this stuff. We’re going to give him a singles push. Well, here comes Kofi with the rest of the New Day. They’ve got a trombone. They created a star with this video but the New Day come out with this vaudeville outlaw mudshow bullshit. That’s not their fault because it’s their gimmick … but they should have differentiated him from the group. His promo sucked, he talked to the people and not his opponent. Here’s another guy that is having his dream fulfilled like he’s the queen for the day. He got serious at the end but his guys were still being goofy.

Vince McMahon replacing Kofi with Kevin Owens:

The New Day guys bitched too much. Here comes Kevin Owens, he’s lost weight. He looks better physically, but he’s wearing jeans and a no-sleeve shirt. What the fuck? It might be everybody’s gimmick that they look like slobs these days. He just has big, fleshy doughy arms with tattoos on him. Daniel Bryan and Kevin Owens had a pretty good staredown, but that’s it.

I guess Owens is a babyface but I don’t know where the fuck it’s going. Hopefully, he becomes a psychopath soon but I don’t know.

On WWE ‘Shitting The Bed’ With Ricochet and Aleister Black

These guys should sue WWE for career assassination. They’re talking to each other, not acknowledging the camera. Ricochet sounds like a nerd and this blonde girl [Lana] comes in. She reminds me of Sable. She’s so perfect. The fake tan, the hair, nothing is out of place, she’s surgically enhanced everywhere. She’s perfect and is like a god damn Stepford wife. They exchange a bunch of phony banter back and forth while they stand at awkward angles.

Aleister Black. His entrance with the cool music and the lighting effect. They raise him like Hannibal Lecter on the backboard. He’s on that board and is being lifted up. That’s some cool shit. However, when the board comes off it and takes a few steps forward he looks down and assumes a pose. Visualize if he had opened his eyes and they do the zoom into his face. That would announce to me that this guy is weird and he’s here.

Then comes Ricochet’s entrance and he’s just happy to be there. Why are they partners? They look nothing alike. They have no common thread in their personality. They’re thrown together.

The very first thing that Ricochet did after Black started with Nakamura, was that he tags in by slapping Black’s back. These tag team guys don’t even know how to tag! Then the heels cut him off and beat him up. How is that getting him over? Then Aleister Black gets tagged in and he gets cut off because if it’s two segments you might as well have two sets of heat instead of beating one guy for a long time they’ll just beat both of them and ruin them. They beat up Black and hold him down so you can see the new star being emasculated. He then gives the coldest tag ever to Ricochet where Ricochet’s hand had fallen off from frostbite. … Ricochet makes a comeback. Rusev cuts it off flat and the match comes to a screeching halt, so that he could do a dive and let Black win. Fucking hell.
