Since R-Truth didn’t get to actually enter the Royal Rumble at #30 like he had earned by winning the Mixed Match Challenge, the McMahon family granted him a title shot against Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE United States Championship. It was a nice gesture, and the charismatic superstar would go on to defeat his Japanese opponent.

Nakamura started things off early by landing a vicious kick to his opponent. He would keep control for most of the match, often mocking R-Truth. However, Truth countered a landslide and managed to get a quick pin over Nakamura. His first championship in seven years.
DID @RonKillings JUST PIN @ShinsukeN TO BECOME THE NEW #USChampion?!?
YES. YES HE DID! #SDLive #USTitle pic.twitter.com/Fr2XvQXF6M
