This week’s 205 Live features a staple of the Cruiserweight brand as a Number One Contender 5-way main event was set in Washington, D.C.
The opening match, however, featured Drew Gulak against Akira Tozawa. Gulak and Tozawa had been in a grudge that lasted over the last month and they looked to settle their differences here. Gulak worked over Tozawa in methodical fashion, wearing down his neck and ribs. Tozawa would attempt to mount a comeback but Jack Gallagher kept Tozawa from victory by interfering in the match. Gulak and Gallagher would beat down on Tozawa until The Brian Kendrick made the save, running off his former comrades. Kendrick would help Tozawa up, coming around full circle between the two former rivals.

Mike Kanellis and Maria were shown in a backstage promo, with Mike telling Lince Dorado that it wasn’t anything personal. He was looking to make an opportunity and next week, he’ll make another statement against him.

The main event was the Number One Contender’s Five-Way featuring TJP, Cedric Alexander, Lio Rush, Gran Metallik, and Tony Nese. As opposed to previous Five-Way matches, this was one fall to a finish instead of it being elimination. It was a very good display of athletcism, as everyone managed to get their shine and too much action to call. Lio Rush came close to pulling off the victory until he was hit with w Lumbar Check from Alexander. When Cedrick went to pin Rush, he was caught in a roll up by Nese, losing for the third straight match and second week in a row to Nese.
Tony Nese is now the latest contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, earning a shot against his tag team partner, Buddy Murphy, in the near future.
