2009 didn’t seem like the type of year where CM Punk would headline a show like SummerSlam, but it turned out to be a great year for him as a whole. After cashing in the MITB briefcase for the second time, he became World Champion at the cost of Jeff Hardy. With The Charismatic Enigma relentlessly chasing him, Punk had to overcome a major obstacle – the TLC match.
Being Hardy’s specialty, he stole the show, including a death-defying drop from the top of a tall ladder onto the announce table. The match mesmerized in every way possible and Punk walked out the winner. However, his celebrations were cut short thanks to the returning Undertaker.
