2009 was a full year into WWE’s PG Era. 2008 in itself was a great year, so there was a lot of excitement heading into 2009m, particularly with WrestleMania 25 taking place. Unfortunately for fans, WrestleMania 25 turned out to be an utter disappointment barring a few matches.
The year in itself was a good one, but not WWE’s best. With John Cena continuing his run at the top, superstars like The Undertaker would have their final year as a full-time superstar before winding down to a more favorable part-time schedule. Despite this, the roster was probably the strongest it had been in the entire Ruthless Aggress Era, barring 2005.
That didn’t stop the superstars of WWE from having incredible matches. Barring WrestleMania, the quality of top-level matches was still at a high.
