Let’s Book WrestleMania 31: The Ascension Get Their First ‘Mania Moment

Wrestling fans love to talk about how bad the WWE creative team is. How the programming sucks, and we could all do so much better at booking these million-dollar productions for millions of viewers at home, with the livelihood of hundreds of employees hanging in the balance.

“JUST PUT THE BELT ON ZIGGLER — NO PROBLEM!!”

With the Royal Rumble coming up this Sunday, the WWE will look to solidify plans for WrestleMania 31, and roll them out over the next ten weeks. Seeds have already been planted for some of the major headlining acts, and we’ll get to those later in the week.

Lets Book WrestleManiaStarting with the Pre-Show, I’m going to play the role of “armchair booker” for this year’s WrestleMania pay-per-view. We’ll go down the event card, match by match, and I’ll explain in detail how I arrived at every fight,  why it’s ultimately “best for business”, and then you’ll all yell at me and call me names in the comments section below.

Sound good?

It’s important to note: this isn’t my “dream card” for WrestleMania. You won’t find any Kofi Kingston vs. Ricky Steamboat spotfests (although how cool would that be?), or cheesy TNA invasion angles. I’ve put together 10-11 matches (including an hour long pre-show) that reflect the current WWE roster, the last year of storylines, and what I believe provides a solid foundation for an entertaining AND REALISTIC WrestleMania pay-per-view.

Let’s start off with something that has early ramifications for other matches on my imaginary card.
