Ring of Honor TV
Jan. 25, 2014
We're back with the third week in Nashville, TN which means we are just one week away from the return of AJ Styles. Tonight we're going to get at least one semi-final match in the Top Prospects tournament, and we await the decision of ROH champion Adam Cole as he decides whether or not to accept Jay Briscoe's challenge.
Raymond Rowe vs. Corey Hollis
There's an obvious size difference between the smaller Hollis, and my pick to win the whole thing, Raymond Rowe. Rowe brushes off a chop from Hollis like a fly landed on his chest, and that will set the tone of this match. Another short but exciting match that put speed up against size, told a good story and ended with a Knock-Out Knee from the big guy. Win or loss (he should win) I hope they find a home for him in Ring of Honor.
RD Evans vs. Matt Sells
Veda Scott is ringside for "The Barrister" – she's pretty much my top crush in wrestling these days. RD Evans, the manager-turned-wrestler in Ring of Honor, currently boasts a 13-0 record. Sells is a young dude working the indie scene, that's seen some time at the ROH school. Veda grabs one of Matt's legs and trips him up; RD Evans hits a top rop headbutt for the win to make his record 14-0.
Veda Scott gets on the mic and issues an open challenge to anybody on the Ring of Honor roster to make it 15-0. Michael Elgin comes out and simply says "ring the bell" to start the match.
RD Evans vs. Michael Elgin
The crowd is chanting "don't die RD, don't die" as Elgin pummels him around the ring. Elgin takes his time, dissecting RD slowly and methodically. He gets a handful of Veda's hair, so Evans tries for a sunset flip but can't do anything against the massive size difference. The Buckle Bomb connects, followed by the Elgin Bomb but no pin attempt is made. Elgin throws not one, but two chairs in the ring and sets them up facing each other. Elgin bomb through the chairs, and the referee calls for the bell. The crowd is going crazy with "ROH" chants.
Well, any way you look at it, RD Evans is 15-0 as the streak continues by disqualification. About a dozen officials and ringside crew members rush the ring to hold back Michael Elgin, who destroys all of them.
