Back in 1999, Ron Killings made a decision that would forever change his life when he sent a promo tape to WWF headquarters. The talented wrestler quickly found success in WWF’s Memphis Championship Wrestling developmental territory, and then found himself (then named K-Kwik) as one-half of an entertaining duo opposite of Road Dogg. His rapping skills set him apart from the rest of the roster, and he showed he could hang in the ring with some dazzling offense.
Now in 2018, Killings is better known under the name R-Truth and is still a highlight of WWE television every time he appears on-screen. While he hasn’t always been within the company over these past 20 years (he was released in 2002, and rejoined in 2008), one thing has been consistent: R-Truth will try his damndest to entertain every single fan that bought a ticket or tuned in to watch him perform. From his short-lived, but memorable feud with John Cena atop the card in 2011 to recent comedy sketches, he’s proven himself as one of the most versatile members of the roster.
On Tuesday night’s episode of SmackDown, Truth once again stole the show as his opening segment, a talk show called Truth TV, was downright hilarious. Only such a talented performer could help get Carmella, who managed to become one of the most hated heels in all of pro wrestling thanks to her fantastic mic work, turned into a babyface after just a few small appearances. Truth’s talents don’t just entertain the fans, but also help get every single person he shares the ring with over.

Killings showcases what happens when someone gives it their all time in and time out. Sure, he isn’t placed at the top of the card anymore, and he rarely has high-profile feuds, but he’s more beloved than the majority of the roster for good reason. No matter how many losses he racks up, the crowd will still happily chant “What’s up!?” right back at him as he makes his entrance, and the company will keep him around thanks to his dependable and high quality work.
From his electrifying spinning corkscrew elbow to memorable comedy sketches, R-Truth is still managing to be a constant highlight at WWE events nearly 20 years after he signed with the company.
