Samoa Joe’s Potential Triple Crown
As seen on Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules pay-per-view, Samoa Joe has earned the opportunity to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at next month’s Raw brand Great Balls of Fire event. If the “Samoan Submission Machine” were to somehow defeat the monstrous “Beast Incarnate”, Joe would actually become the first man in history to win a major world championship for all three of the largest wrestling promotions in the United States; WWE, Impact Wrestling, and Ring of Honor.
Of course, AJ Styles became the first man to win the WWE Championship, IWGP Heavyweight Championship and TNA World Heavyweight Championship back in 2016, but the Phenomenal One was never able to capture the biggest prize in ROH during his tenure.
There are only two men that could currently join Samoa Joe in completing the U.S. circuit: Austin Aries, who is currently a part of the WWE Cruiserweight division, and current Impact Wrestling roster member Eddie Edwards. Seth Rollins, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and Kevin Owens have all won the world titles in WWE and Ring of Honor, so technically any of them are also capable of achieving this accolade in the extremely unlikely event that one of them ended up on Impact.
English Added to NJPW Schedule
As Kevin Kelly and Don Callis remain in Japan between the Best of the Super Juniors Finals and the start of the Dominion tour, NJPW has added English commentary to the June 9th Road to Dominion go-home show that will feature the final build towards the promotion’s second biggest event of the year.
Road to Dominion will be broadcast live on New Japan World early Friday morning, starting at 5:30 a.m. EST. The show will feature a collection of multi-man tag team matches captained by those competing in singles matches on June 11th.
Cody Rhodes will be in action leading Bullet Club against Michael Elgin, David Finlay and War Machine. Suzuki-Gun and CHAOS will collide again as Minoru Suzuki and Hirooki Goto prepare for what will likely be a brutal Lumberjack Match. Plus Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks take on Kazuchika Okada and Roppongi Vice just two days before the rematch of the century. The show will also feature the return of Hiroshi Tanahashi from injury, as Taguchi Japan takes on Testuya Naito and Los Ingobernables de Japon in what will likely be another fantastic 10-man tag.
