Dolph Ziggler defeated Cesaro
Smackdown Reaction begins with Dolph Ziggler and Cesaro. Ziggler gets caught early from the top rope, giving Cesaro the early advantage. He hits a few uppercuts and then talks trash to Sheamus, who is sitting on commentary.
We come back from break with Ziggler hitting a facebuster and applying a sleeper hold onto Cesaro. Dolph is able to counter with a swinging DDT. Cesaro works away with some uppercuts and tries to hit the Neutralizer. Ziggler surprises him and rolls him up for the win.
This match was nothing amazing, but it is always a joy to see these two guys get some quality television time. I expected Cesaro to win, since it was a non-title match, but I am glad they went with Ziggler. Too often, WWE makes the champion look weak. I do think WWE needs to give the title to Cesaro at Night of Champions. He seems lost right now and a title could help them build him back up into something relevant.
Jimmy Uso defeated Heath Slater
Surprisingly enough, Jimmy and Heath work quick and effective. Slater gets some offense with a neckbreaker and stomps him in the corner. Jimmy is able to gain some advantage when he catches Slater with a kick to the stomach. He connects with a splash from the top. Titus tries to get involved as Jey tries to help his brother out. Jimmy kicks Titus off the apron and Jimmy is able to hit a thrust kick and hits a big splash for the win.
An average match that continues to show Jey hurt and the inability he has right now to help his brother. i would have liked to see a beating by the challengers after the match, giving Gold and Stardust more cheap heat. With new heels, they need to get as much cheap heat as possible as soon as possible. It only helps separate them from being cheered by marks.
Stephanie McMahon Makes Big Announcement
She announces that Paige, AJ Lee and Nikki Bella will fight for the Divas Championship at Night of Champions. After this pre-taped announcement, Byron Saxton talks to Nikki. She says she is very happy and likes being the popular sister and she cannot wait to be champion without her sister holding her back.
Good segment and I was refreshed seeing something other than an in-ring segment with Stephanie and Nikki. It felt important. AJ Lee and Paige could have another rematch, but this spices things up a bit. WWE knows that they can tangle storylines together without harming them. They add the Bella feud to the Divas Championship and that will help them simplify the stories and make them even more interesting on a week to week basis. Now, they have more options with four Divas instead of two separate storylines with a lack of creativity.
