Cody Rhodes doesn’t appear to be missing any time, but he’s still feeling the effects of his match against Oba Femi.
The American Nightmare faced off with NXT Champion Oba Femi in the opening match of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. During the match, Rhodes stumbled at ringside near the commentary table. Oba Femi took advantage of the opportunity and delivered a vicious diving uppercut that sent both competitors over the table.
Rhodes got the worst of the move, as he stood up and grabbed his ear, which was bleeding heavily as Oba threw him back in the ring.
Rhodes finished the match, which ended by disqualification, thanks to Drew McIntyre’s interference. Rhodes stuck around after the main event to deliver an emotional speech about John Cena’s last match, and his ear had been cleaned up.
On Thursday, WWE released Rhodes’s new interview with John Cena. As seen in the video version, Rhodes’s outer ear had a butterfly bandage over the scapha. In addition, the inside of Rhodes’s ear was bruised and seemed to be swollen compared to Saturday night.
It doesn’t appear that Rhodes will miss any time, as he has continued his feud with McIntyre. On Monday, WWE released a video of Rhodes attacking McIntyre at his home during a meeting with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. Prior to the attack, Aldis proposed a WWE Championship match between Rhodes and McIntyre. However, Aldis said McIntyre had to apologize to the WWE official whom he had attacked.
