John Cena is teasing some change following his retirement.
17-time world champion John Cena retired from WWE following his final match against Gunther at Saturday Night’s Main Event this past weekend. While he has already revealed what his future with WWE is going to look like post-retirement, Cena is teasing some “change” with one of his usual cryptic social media posts.
John Cena took to Instagram to post an image showing coins spilling out of a roll of quarters. While his posts are always open to interpretation, one of the most literal takeaways from this one could be ‘change.’
He could either mean that he’s prepping himself for a significant shift after retiring from pro wrestling after a decorated 26-year career, or he could be teasing something else that has to do with a big change. Fans will have to wait until Cena provides some context to find out what he actually means with the post.
WWE Legend Reveals What He Told John Cena Before His Last Match
Speaking on his Hall of Fame podcast, WWE legend Booker T revealed what he said to John Cena before his retirement match.
“You know, me and John Cena, we’ve got a connection. We’re connected. I had so many matches with John. That was one of the guys that — it was never wrestling. It was always Shakespeare. And him and I, we’ve never talked about wrestling. It’s always been Shakespeare. And that’s what I told him right before the match. I gave him a hug, and I said, ‘Shakespeare baby, let’s get it done one last time.’
Booker T also reminisced about working with John Cena and recalled having to make him look like a star after WWE chose him as the next face of the company.
“But it was really, really cool. It was really, really cool because there again, I had a great time working with John. Being on the road with John, watching him grow. Knowing that he was the chosen one, and the guy that they were grooming to be the next Rock, Stone Steve Austin per se, Shawn Michaels, you know. I had a job to do. And you know, that job was to go out there and make this young kid a star.” [H/T 411Mania]
