John Cena Comments On Who His Final WWE Opponent Might Be

John Cena says he’s going to give it his best shot, no matter who his final opponent is.

Cena’s retirement match is tentatively scheduled for WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in December. The number of dates are set, but his opponent and the event have not yet been announced. Cena recently appeared at FanExpo Boston, where he was asked who he wanted to face for his last match.

Cena said that he’s never picked his opponents, implying that he would not start now. However, he said that whoever stands across the ring from him in that final match will get his best effort.

“That’s a great question, but the answer’s going to be a little tricky. Because I’ve been doing this for 23 years, and I’ve never once chosen my opponents,” Cena said. “I’ve always lived by the philosophy that life will deal you opportunities every single day, and [you] do the best you can every single day with what life gives you. So whoever challenges me for that last one, I’m going to give it my best shot. So, I don’t want to pick an opponent.”

Cena’s retirement match will not take place in Boston, as was originally believed. Instead, Cena will make final appearances in Boston and New York in November before having his retirement match. Earlier this year, Gunther was rumored to be in the running for that match, but WWE has not announced any plans for the final match yet.

John Cena will face off with Brock Lesnar at WWE WrestlePalooza this weekend in Indianapolis.

During the panel, Cena also revealed who his toughest opponent was.
