New Japan Wrestling Dontaku Preview
New Japan Pro Wrestling will present Wrestling Dontaku on Thursday & Friday. Hiroshi Tanahashi & Kazuchika are set to write another chapter in the greatest rivalry of New Japan’s modern era. 5/4 will see Tanahashi challenge Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, in a match that has headlined numerous Wrestle Kingdoms.
Also on the rematch docket, Will Ospreay will defend his IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship against KUSHIDA. After a lengthy rivalry, Ospreay finally beat KUSHIDA last year to win the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Championship. Now the champ is out to prove that victory wasn’t a fluke.
Also set for the two day extravaganza will be the Bullet Club Civil War. 5/3 marks the 5-year anniversary of Prince Devitt forming Bullet Club. Devitt, along with Tama Tonga, Bad Luck Fale & Karl Anderson attacked Hiroshi Tanahashi to form the popular stable.
On 5/3, Kenny Omega will face Hangman Page, while Cody will face Kenny’s lover Kota Ibushi. Also on 5/3, The Young Bucks will team with Marty Scurll to take on Bad Luck Fale, Tama Tonga & Tanga Loa for the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Championships. Finally, on 5/4 Team Kenny & Team Cody will clash in 10-man tag action. Also, Bone Soldier is set to return.
Both events are set to air live on NJPWWorld.com at 4am EDT.
