As noted, there has been much speculation that Baron Corbin losing both his Money in the Bank briefcase and his match against John Cena at WWE SummerSlam is due to current backstage heat on the Smackdown Live star.
Reports have suggested Corbin’s backstage heat stems from recent social media behavior, including comments he made to a military veteran, for which Corbin later apologized.
Speculation regarding Corbin’s push stalling in WWE was furthered when he worked a “basic” match against John Cena this past Sunday night, and WWE even edited out Corbin’s entrance in the YouTube video of the bout.
WWE Smackdown Live producer Brian “Road Dogg” James addressed fan concern regarding Corbin with the following Tweets:
He lost to Cena in a match.

I just don’t see how working with Cena at SummerSlam is a negative. It’s 1 beat of the whole song, 1 moment in a long career.

Well, it’s a good thing we have 52 weeks this year and the same again next year. I’m being facetious but you get my point I think.
