Speculation on When Brock Lesnar vs. Jon Jones May Happen

After defeating Daniel Cormier at UFC 214, Jon Jones commenced another reign as Light Heavyweight Champion. During a post-match interview, Jones called out Brock Lesnar, stating that he would be defeated by someone “40 pounds lighter” than him (when, in reality, it’s more like 80-90). Lesnar responded, and told Jones to “be careful what you wish for,” further hyping the superfight between the two.

During the Live Audio Wrestling podcast, Dave Meltzer stated that there is interest for the fight to occur from both parties. However, it probably will not occur until next summer, when Lesnar’s WWE contract is up. The last time Lesnar fought while still under contract with WWE, he competed against Mark Hunt, but was popped with a drug policy violation and a subsequent one-year suspension. To avoid any other PR disasters, WWE is hesitant to approve future UFC fights while Lesnar is under contract.
