Billy Gunn Comments on Negative Reaction For His Match Vs. Tanahashi
At the G1 Special in USA, Billy Gunn competed for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi. As previously reported by WZ, the overall reaction from members of the wrestling community was negative, as people felt that Gunn has not been a popular name for a number of years. However, when AXS TV did research, they did find Gunn to be a person of interest.
I sat down with Gunn on the latest episode of the Pancakes and Powerslams Show, and this is what he shared about the negative reaction.
“Everyone has a platform to voice their opinions. Great. I let people have their opinions. That’s all good. Nothing has to match mine, I don’t think that everybody should or everybody has to agree. I get it. I get that a lot of people are saying, ‘What have you done?’ Well, I’ve done a lot of things. Until they look past that – I have earned a name in this business, worked hard to get it, worked hard to keep it. I happened to be a part of one of the greatest factions of all time. Let’s not undermine that at all.”
He would then state that he may have changed the spot that he and Tanahashi had on the card, but the match that they had was good for the show to level out the dynamic of all the high-flying moments.
Young Bucks Want To Compete Against The New Age Outlaws
The Young Bucks recently posted a tweet stating that they are en route to once again being the Tag Team of the Year. Former WWE Tag Team Champion and current agent Brian “Road Dogg” James replied, “Are me and [Billy Gunn] in the running? Or maybe we can just hand out the award.”
Nick Jackson replied, “We’d love to wrestle you guys,” and James cautioned Jackson, “Billy is really stiff! I’m light as a feather however, like Bobby Eaton only not nearly as good!”
