The first ever women’s Money in the Bank ladder match ended in a massive amount of controversy – both in story, and in reality – after James Ellsworth involved himself in the bout on behalf of his on-screen girlfriend Carmella. The self-proclaimed “Michael Jordan of Sports Entertainment” drew the ire of everyone after costing Becky Lynch a history making win, climbing a ladder himself and literally dropping the coveted Money in the Bank briefcase into the lap of the Staten Island Princess.
Following the match, Ellsworth went on a virtual rampage against the entire Smackdown Live women’s roster, Smackdown general manager Daniel Bryan, and even Raw Superstar Bayley for their many criticisms of how things went down Sunday night in St. Louis.
