I was looking forward to getting this figure as I kind of enjoyed Myers’ “Face the Facts” promos and this is the closest figure available that looks like he currently does. This figure is a nice throwback to the Jakks style WWE Ruthless Aggression figures that pretty much setup most collectors collections, including my own.

Looking at Myers in the packaging you can see he comes in a hard plastic case, much like the AJ Styles I reviewed awhile back from the same line. He’s fastened in the box with twist ties and there’s normally a plastic seal over the front to protect from scratches, etc. I peeled it off for the review but it’s nice to know it’s protected. On the back of the box you can see a lot of guys in the Rising Stars line that are either out or coming out soon, which consists of many Indy guys. To remove Myers from the box you don’t have to cut the zip tie at the top, rather just slowly separate the sides near Myers and you can pull him out without ruining anything. You can easily put him back this way, too, if you decide to display it mint in the box.

Once Myers is removed from the box you can see the nice detail on this figure. Unfortunately I’ve seen these figures get a bad rap sometimes as people are so used to Mattel these days, but these are great for the people who either still collect Jakks or prefer the Jakks style. Regardless, it can still go with a part of your collection unless you’ve only collected Mattel. Moving on, looking at his head scan I think it looks okay, not 100% but it’s close enough and it is indeed challenging to get characters scans right no matter what company makes it. Before anyone says anything, the wrestlers approve their sculpts as well. His head seems a little large to me as a lot of the Jakks figures had in the end, but the likeness isn’t bad. It is ball jointed as well for those unfamiliar with these. My little nitpick would be that his head is kind of flat in that his hair is flatter to his head than I’d prefer it, but it still gets the job done.

Moving past his scan you can see the awesome vest he comes with, which is probably my favorite part of the figure. Cloth goods on the wrestling figures, something FTC has focused on heavily with their new line of figures, really makes the figures pop. Be careful unzipping his vest as mine had some trouble as the zipper is small, so be gentle with it. It was a little hard zipping it back up but I managed to get it with little to no issue eventually. On the back it says “Prince of Queens.” Once you remove his vest you can see his ripped body mold. He has rubber elbow pads on his arms, which don’t restrict his movement much at all. He even has his blue and black gloves, which are a nice touch. His staff rests in his hand okay, but it is thinner, which makes sense, so it slides through his grasp pretty easily so just be careful. You can see the nice detail engraved in it, too, which adds a nice touch.

Moving to his tights this is where my only real complaint comes from as the paint seems fragile around his knees. I’m not sure if this was just the one I received so just be gentle moving his joints. Besides that, the designs on his tights are great. They did a very nice job with the graphics and text going down his thighs. The detail is nice and makes the figure pop that much more as it is pretty colorful.

Overall, I do like the figure as I have been eager to get a more current Curt Hawkins figure and this is the closest one right now. It has it’s pros and cons, much like any figure. I love the vest, it really makes the figure for me honestly. As said before just be careful moving his joints due to the paint. The joints on this one are stiff compared to people mentioning loose joints on these, so that’s a big plus as well for those of you who like to pose/display them loose like myself. He doesn’t have Elite articulation like most of the Mattel figures I review but he still has plenty to pose him well. I do recommend picking him up if you’re a fan or want a more modern Hawkins to go with your current WWE collection. I’m just glad a lot of these indy guys are getting figures as there’s really no other outlet for them. It’s fun to see who gets added to this line. Be sure to order him soon from WrestlingSuperStore.com as I’m not sure he’ll be available again once he’s sold out.
