As we reported earlier today, Jeff Jarrett, whose Global Force Wrestling promotion will be distributing the big New Japan Pro Wrestling WrestleKingdom Tokyo Dome event on 1/4/15, met with Ring of Honor head Joe Koff yesterday.
In an update on this developing story, Dave Meltzer noted on last night’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that one of the reasons why Jarrett met with Koff is because the ROH Championship is scheduled to be defended at the NJPW PPV, and several ROH talents are scheduled to appear at the show as well.
ROH has a clause in its contracts prohibiting talent from appearing on PPV events for another wrestling promotion, and Jeff Jarrett was apparently trying to smooth over those details. Meltzer added the official announcement has yet to be made regarding the GFW and NJPW PPV deal likely because the talent clause has to be worked out first.
It was also noted by Meltzer that one of the items discussed between Koff and Jarrett could be the possibility of ROH promoting the NJPW PPV following this year’s Final Battle PPV.
