Roode comes back with a clothesline, then he taunts Aries and slaps him but Aries fires up and punches him in the face. Roode chops him in the corner but Aries fights right back, then Roode runs the ropes but Aries surprises him with a discus punch. Aries hits the apron but he rolls over Roode’s shoulder and clotheslines him outside, then he runs across the ring and hits a suicide dive. He goes up top and hits a missile dropkick, then he runs across the ring but Roode counters a running dropkick with a powerslam for a two count.
Roode waits for him to get up and goes for a spear, but Aries counters and goes for Last Chancery before switching to a front facelock. Roode reverses it into a crossface, but Aries counters with Last Chancery so Roode rakes his eyes and hits a shoulder block in the corner. He sets up a superplex but Aries knees him in the head, then he shoves Roode back and leaps off but misses a 450 splash. Roode hops up and hits a spinebuster for a two count, then he sends Aries shoulder first into the ringpost and puts him back in a crossface.
Aries reaches the ropes after a long struggle, then Roode brings his title in the ring but the ref cuts him off and takes it away. Roode low blows him and gets a two count, then he argues with the ref and shoves him but Aries hits a corner dropkick. Aries goes for a Brainbuster but Roode shoves him into the ref, then he picks up his title as Aries tries to revive the ref. Roode hits him with it and pulls the ref over, but Aries kicks out then he counters a fisherman’s suplex with a rollup attempt. Aries rolls to the corner and punt kicks Roode in the head, then he picks him up and hits a Brainbuster for the win!
