WWE Monday Night RAW Opener:

Eric Bischoff was shown backstage with Jim Ross. Bischoff said he understands how he feels; he would be just as scared as him. Bischoff said he knows JR wants him to cancel the match and Bischoff has given it some thought. He said announcers are a dime a dozen and they are going to go ahead with the match. Bischoff said to make it a little more interesting, they are going to make it a no disqualification match. Bischoff said he is a fair man, and as Triple H will have Ric Flair in his corner, JR will have the new World’s Heavyweight Champion, Batista! The fireworks went off in the arena as the Coach and the King welcomed us to the show. Coach also announced that tonight it will be Shawn Michaels one on one with Muhammad Hassan!

Edge vs. Chris Benoit

The music of Edge hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring with his briefcase and Mr. Money in the Bank is set for action against Chris Benoit!

The start:

Edge attacked Benoit as he got into the ring and hammered away at him in the corner but Benoit came back with chops and knees. Benoit went for a German but Edge blocked and went for a suplex but Benoit then blocked that and hit his series of German’s, five in total. Benoit headed up top for the head butt but Edge moved.

Mid-match notes:

Edge went for the spear but Benoit moved and then Edge scored with the Edge-o-matic for two. Edge stomped on the injured arm of Benoit and locked in a rear chin lock. Edge began to work over the arm of Benoit but Benoit fought to his feet. Benoit hit some right hands and chops but Edge raked the eyes. Edge went for a back suplex but Benoit flipped out and went for the Crossface but Edge made the ropes. Benoit pulled Edge to the outside and drove Edge’s head into the ring steps. Edge sent Benoit into the announce table and the ring apron but Benoit whipped Edge into the barrier and then clotheslined him into the crowd.

The Finish:

Benoit followed him over and hit some knees to the head. The two fought to the backstage area and Edge slammed Benoit headfirst into a table. Benoit came back with chops but Edge sent him into some storage boxes. A bunch of referees and officials came out to break up the fight as we go to commercial.

Winner – No Contest

Backstage:

A bunch of divas were shown backstage as Edge and Benoit came storming through throwing punches at each other. Bischoff came in to break it up and said if they want it, they are going to get it. Bischoff said they will go head to head in a Last Man Standing Match!

In the arena:

The music of the Women’s Champion hit in the arena as Trish Stratus made her way to the ring looking hotter than ever. Trish got on the mic and said she wanted to take this time to clear the air and make a fresh start between herself and Lita. Trish called Lita down to the ring and said she wants to talk before things get out of control. The music of Lita then hit as she came down to a very mixed reaction from the crowd. Lita got in the ring to more boos from the crowd as a you screwed Matt chant started up. Trish called the fans a bunch of idiots and said first of all, she is not doing this because of what happened with Kane. She said she has done some soul searching as a SLUT chant started up. Trish called the fans idiots again and Trish said herself and Lita have been through a lot together. Another you screwed Matt chant started up and Trish said she would walk out if they didn’t be quiet. Trish said she respects Lita and said she is like a sister to her. The chant started up again and Trish said she loved Lita. Trish asked if Lita accepted her apology. Lita took the mic to boos and said that Trish is very sweet. Lita said this last year has been a living hell thanks to Trish, but they have been through a lot. Lita said she didn’t believe a word she said, and she doesn’t accept the apology. She said there is one more thing she needs to know; payback is a bitch. With that, the music of Kane hit and Lita nailed Trish from behind with her crutch. Kane got in the ring as Trish ran for her life. Kane stalked Trish up the aisle but Trish tripped over and Kane grabbed her by the leg. Viscera of all people then came out and nailed Kane and hammered away at him. Viscera sent Kane into the ring apron and then sent him in the ring. Viscera splashed Kane in the corner as the fans chanted let’s go Mabel. Viscera hit a big fallaway slam on Kane and then splashed him and screamed in his face. Viscera got out of the ring and Trish thanked him and then he carried her to the back and she didn’t seem to happy about that.

In the arena:

Trish and Viscera were shown backstage. Trish said Viscera was the man for helping her and went to leave. Viscera said he was glad to be of service, but he will be more glad when she services him. Viscera said she knows the deal they made, he does something for her, and she does something for him. Trish didn’t look happy, and said it’s strictly business. Viscera said he likes to mix business with a whole lot of pleasure. Trish said they can hang out and take it slowly. Viscera said they would take it real slow, like all night long. Trish said she would see him later, and he pulled her back and slapped a kiss on her!

Non Title Match

The Heart Throbs vs. William Regal and Tajiri (c)

The music of Tajiri hit in the arena as he and William Regal made their way to the ring as the World Tag Team Champs. The music of the Heart Throbs then hit and we have a new tag team here on RAW! Romeo and Antonio danced their way to the ring to club music and Regal and Tajiri didn’t know what to think.

The start:

Regal and Antonio kicked things off and Antonio hit a shoulder block for two and locked in a shoulder block. Antonio hit a cross body for one and then danced around a bit. Regal tagged in Tajiri and they locked up and Antonio wrenched on the arm but Tajiri reversed. Romeo tagged in and hit some forearm shots but Tajiri then scored with a monkey flip and tagged in Regal. Regal and Tajiri double teamed Romero and then knocked Antonio off the apron but then they cut off Regal in the corner.

The Finish:

Antonio locked in a surf board in the middle of the ring on Regal and then tagged in Romeo. Romeo knocked down Regal with a right and covered for one. Romero hammered away on Regal and made the tag to Antonio. Antonio sent Regal hard to the corner but Regal fought out and tagged in Tajiri. Tajiri went to work with kicks and then hit the handspring elbow on Romeo for two when Antonio broke the fall. The Heart Throbs double teamed Tajiri but he escaped. Regal hot shotted Romeo on the ropes and then Tajiri rolled him up for the win.

Winners, the World Tag Team Champions, William Regal and Tajiri

The Aftermath:

The Heart Throbs attacked the champs after the match and sent Regal outside. Antonio hammered away at Tajiri while Antonio held him. They then hit a double team Flatliner on Tajiri.

Backstage:

Jim Ross was backstage with referee Michael Chioda and JR can’t find Batista. Chioda told him to relax and he’s sure Batista will be there. Triple H and Ric Flair were then shown and Flair asked what they are going to do when Batista got there. Triple H said they would do nothing because Batista won’t get there. Triple H said he had a conversation with the limo company and right now, Batista should be on the ride of his life.

Backstage:

Hassan and Daivari were with Todd Grisham and Hassan said last week after Daivari disposed of HBK so easily, he thought he should take on Michaels in New York. Grisham brought up the possibility of having to face Hulk Hogan at Backlash. Hassan shook his head and said that from what he understands, the only person that didn’t hear Michaels whining like a child was Hogan himself. Hassan said Hogan is like every other American, selfish, self serving and only in it for himself. Hassan said no one will save Michaels at Backlash, and no one will save him tonight either.

Muhammad Hassan vs. Shawn Michaels

The music of Muhammad Hassan hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring with Daivari and he is set for singles action against Shawn Michaels!

The start:

Michaels knocked down Hassan with right hands and then sent him to the outside as the fans were rabid for HBK. Hassan got back in the ring and the two locked up. Hassan and Michaels traded right hands as the fans chanted for Hogan. HBK sent Hassan to the outside yet again. Hassan hit some right hands on Michaels in the corner but Michaels came back with a boot in the corner and a hard right. Michaels hit a knee lift and Daivari then distracted him allowing Hassan to knock him outside. Michaels chased Daivari and caught him but Hassan took the advantage.

Mid-match notes:

Hassan rammed Michaels back in the ring apron and then suplexed him back inside but Michaels floated over and hit some chops to the chest. Michaels then threw Hassan over the top to the outside as we go to commercial.

Back on RAW and Michaels is in control of Hassan in the corner. Michaels chopped Hassan but Hassan came back and hit an elbow to the back of the head for two. Hassan hit a modified backbreaker for another two and then choked Michaels on the mat. Hassan hit a modified leg sweep on Michaels and then dropped an elbow for two. Hassan locked in a modified rear chin lock as Daivari looked on in approval.

Michaels fought out and hit some rights and then scored with a flying forearm. Both men are down on the mat and Michaels nipped up and hit an atomic drop and then knocked Daivari off the apron. Michaels hit a body slam and then headed up top and scored with the elbow. Michaels pranced around the ring and started to tune up the band for some Sweet Chin Music. Daivari tried to grab Michaels from the middle rope but Michaels tossed him off. Hassan then hit the STO on Michaels and then both he and Daivari stomped away at the Heart Break Kid.

Winner by disqualification, Shawn Michaels

The Aftermath:

Hassan wrapped Daivari’s tie around Michaels neck and hung him over the ropes and then the music of HULK HOGAN hit in the arena! Hogan got in the ring and Hassan and Daivari hammered at him as he entered. The crowd went nuts as Hogan began to Hulk up! Hogan banged their heads together and then hammered at Daivari and gave him the big boot. Hogan then did the same to Hassan and then Michaels clotheslined both to the outside! Michaels and Hogan celebrated in the middle of the ring and Hogan will team with Michaels at Backlash! Hogan posed in the middle of the ring and ripped off his top and this is a classic moment here on RAW! Hogan then got Michaels to do the pose with him.

In the arena:

The music of the Masterpiece, Chris Masters, hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring and last week on RAW, he issued an open challenge for someone to break the Master Lock, and if someone did, they would get $1,000 of his own money. Masters took the mic and said all he keeps hearing about is how tough New Yorkers are supposed to be. He said there is not a person in this building who can break the Master Lock. Masters said a grand is more than most people make in a month. Masters picked someone from the crowd and told him to come on in. Master’s asked his name, and it is Roman, and he is from Bayside, Queens. Masters asked if he was a tough guy, and he said he IS from New York. Masters told him to sit down, and he is going to apply the Master Lock. If he breaks out, he will be a grand richer. The referee took the money from Masters as Masters locked in the hold. Masters savaged him around the ring and Roman is out of it. The referee called for the bell. The referee gave Masters the money back as Masters celebrated his easy win.

Non Title Match

Simon Dean vs. Shelton Benjamin (c)

The music of Simon Dean is playing in the arena. He gets on the mic and says his name is Simon Dean, but was then interrupted by the music of Shelton Benjamin! They recapped what happened last week between Jericho and Benjamin. The music of Chris Jericho then hit in the arena before the match could get underway as he came out with a mic. Jericho said he wanted to come out here and tell him that at Backlash, for the Intercontinental Championship, it’s going to be Shelton Benjamin vs. Y2J. Jericho said he wanted to come out and serenade him with an rendition of Fozzy’s new single. Jericho brought out Rich Ward, the guitarist for Fozzy. Jericho sang about Shelton, calling him a little bitch and a big assclown. Benjamin went to go after Jericho but Dean attacked him from behind.

The start:

Dean sent Shelton inside and then went up top and hit a flying clothesline for two. Dean hit some crossface shots on Benjamin and then drove his head into the canvas. Dean locked in a rear chin lock as Jericho looked on from the aisle. Dean hit an elbow in the corner and then a flying forearm for two. Dean choked Benjamin while doing push ups. Dean stomped on Benjamin and locked in an arm bar. Benjamin fought out and went for a clothesline but Dean hit a discus punch for two.

The Finish:

Dean locked in a front face lock on Benjamin and then choked him with his own arms. Benjamin fought out and hit a Northern Lights but Dean kicked up. Benjamin hit a modified back breaker and a clothesline. Benjamin gave Dean a flapjack and then a knee to the head. Benjamin hit the Stinger Splash in the corner and then finished him with the T-Bone for the win.

Winner, the Intercontinental Champion, Shelton Benjamin

Jericho applauded Benjamin’s victory and these two will meet for the Intercontinental Title at Backlash!

In the arena:

The music of Christian hit in the arena as he made his way to the ring with Tyson Tomko. Christian grabbed the mic and said that he expected a little bit more from the Christian Coalition in NYC. He said he heard the little ovation Hogan got earlier, but did Hulk Hogan beat Chris Benoit last week on RAW like Captain Charisma? Christian said he wants a proper ovation, but then the music of Vince McMahon hit! Vince McMahon strutted down to the ring. McMahon grabbed the mic and said he can’t stand is someone who comes out here and talks but doesn’t say a damn thing. Vince said he chose this moment as his first appearance since the Rumble and then Tomko grabbed a mic for Christian. Christian said Vince must have wanted to come out here to congratulate him for his big win last week. Vince said Stone Cold was right when he labelled him a CLB. Vince said he is out here to make an announcement for something that last year was momentous. Christian said we already know about the Diva Search. Vince said Christian will be unemployed if he interrupts him again! Vince said this concerns every superstar on RAW and Smackdown! and it’s time to shake things up again! He said they are going to have a good old draft lottery in about a month! Christian said he has been held back on RAW and if he was taken to Smackdown to face John Cena, he would kick Markey Mark’s ass and take his WWE Title because that’s how he rules! Christian said he is championship material and a main eventer and everyone knows it. Vince said next week, Christian is going to be in the main event, it’s going to be Christian, one on one with the World Heavyweight Champion, Batista! Christian seemed pretty happy with that announcement but Tomko didn’t seem too confident!

Backstage:

Todd Grisham is backstage with Triple H. Grisham asks him about Backlash when he faces Batista for the Title. Triple H said that it is fact that if he hits the Pedigree he will be the new Champion. It has been proven 10 times over and will be proven for the 11th time. Triple H said the Pedigree is the end, and tonight, JR will find out. He said Batista already knows it, and for anyone that doesn’t they need to take a look at this. We then go into a video package to Drowning Pool’s version of “The Game”. Footage was shown of Triple H hitting Pedigree’s on many top superstars. Triple H laughed and said need I say more and left.

Backstage:

Jim Ross was shown walking to the arena backstage in his Sooner’s jersey, and there is no Batista in sight.

No Disqualification Match

Triple H vs. Jim Ross

The music of Triple H hit in the arena as he made his way out to the ring with Ric Flair in tow. Triple H looked cocky as ever as the music of Jim Ross hit. Triple H applauded him as he made his way down the aisle.

The start:

Triple H asked for a handshake and JR refused it. Triple H gave him a right hand to the gut and then a right to the head. Triple H gave Flair a high five at ringside. Triple H gave JR another right hand and he is down and out. JR pulled himself up on the ropes and gave Triple H a right of his own! Triple H looked pissed and gave him another shot to the face and hammered away at him. Triple H got in the face of the referee in the corner and then went back over to JR. Ross is busted wide open and Triple H hammers away at his bloody skull. Triple H ripped off his Sooner’s jersey and hammered away some more.

Mid-match notes:

The blood streamed down the face of JR as Triple H took his belt. Triple H wrapped the belt around his hand and hit JR with it, and then choked him with it. Lawler said this is pissing him off, and stormed down to the ring. Lawler got in the ring and told Triple H to back off. Flair got in the ring and went after Lawler but Triple H held him back. Triple H then nailed the King and gave him the Pedigree. Flair stomped on Lawler as Triple H hammered away at Ross some more. A limo is then shown speeding in backstage and it’s Batista! Triple H looked a little nervous as he pulled JR into the corner. The music of Batista then hit as he stormed to the ring. Batista hammered away at Triple H. Flair jumped on the back of Batista, but Batista threw him down.

The Finish:

Batista hit a clothesline in the corner and then some more right hands. Flair came in with a chair but got a spinebuster. Triple H grabbed the chair and nailed Batista in the back with it. Triple H went for the Pedigree but Batista back dropped out of it. Batista nailed Triple H square in the head with the chair. Batista smiled and then walked over to JR and dragged him and put him over Triple H! The referee made the count and JR wins!

Winner – Jim Ross

The Aftermath:

JR was helped to the back by the referees as Batista posed on the ropes as the World Champion.
