CM Punk made his final appearance for Ring Of Honor Saturday night in Morristown, New Jersey. In front of approximately 800 screaming fans, CM Punk defeated Austin Aries for the Ring Of Honor World Title. The show was held at the Mennen Arena, and based on the size, comfort and ventilation – it’s definitely a venue ROH should consider making permanent (the promotion has already booked an August show for the arena).
After winning the belt, CM Punk turned heel on the fans and “admitted” that he used them to get ahead. He then challenged anyone backstage at ROH to do something, which prompted Christopher Daniels to come out in a surprise appearance. Following a brief exchange, CM Punk raced out of the arena with the title – Daniels then cut a promo to close the show.
Although this was CM Punk’s final ROH appearance, he’s expected to work next weekend. He was originally advertised for Wayne, New Jersey’s “NWA Cyberspace,” but most are expecting he’ll instead work Full Impact Pro.
*In other news from the show, the surprise opponent for AJ Styles was Petey Williams.
