Brie Bella has provided a heartbreaking update following WWE SummerSlam 2026, confirming that the injury she suffered during Saturday night’s event was far more serious than many initially feared.
Despite finishing the match, the WWE Hall of Famer now faces a lengthy recovery after revealing the extent of the damage.
The update comes just days after WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque disclosed that Bella had been taken to a local hospital, describing the shoulder injury as looking “pretty bad.”

Taking to Instagram, Brie thanked fans for their support before confirming the diagnosis.
“I wanted to thank you all for sending me all the love, warm wishes and prayers. When I was sitting in the hospital, I was reading everything you guys were sending my way, love you all!!!”
She then revealed the severity of the injury, writing, “Unfortunately I’ll be out for a bit. I broke my scapula.”
The injury reportedly occurred during the high-stakes six-woman tag team match when Jacy Jayne’s cannonball on the outside drove Brie into the steel ring steps. Although she was visibly favoring her shoulder afterward, she remarkably completed the bout alongside Nikki Bella and Paige against Fatal Influence.
Reflecting on finishing the match, Brie admitted she isn’t entirely sure how she made it to the final bell.
“Not sure how I finished that match, but I do believe between the adrenaline, passion for the business and the love for all the women I work with, it gave me the drive to finish. Now my new journey starts!!”
She also shared a lighthearted glimpse into her recovery, saying, “Buddy said he’s going to be my assistant, Birdie’s going to be my nurse and they both told me that daddy is going to be my personal chef.” Brie closed her message with an optimistic promise: “If there is one thing I know about Brie Mode, she always finds a way to come back to her wrestling home. Let the recovery begin.”
While WWE has not announced a timetable for her return, the injury is expected to sideline Bella for the foreseeable future. It also forces WWE to adjust plans for the newly ignited storyline involving Nikki Bella and Paige.
