Nick Jackson has given fans a positive update after a concerning moment at AEW Redemption. The Young Bucks star confirmed that he did not suffer a concussion and passed several concussion tests after the show.
The incident worried fans during AEW Redemption because Nick spent much of the match outside the ring while his brother Matt Jackson handled most of the action. Nick has now shared how he is feeling. He also spoke about a neck injury that may have played a part in what happened.
Nick Jackson passes concussion tests after AEW Redemption
The moment happened at AEW Redemption on July 26 during The Young Bucks’ tag team match against Jon Moxley and Will Ospreay. Early in the match, Nick took a hard shot to the head that immediately seemed to affect him.
After the collision, Nick stayed outside the ring for a long time while Matt continued the match by himself. The commentary team worked the situation into the story, with Moxley telling Ospreay to keep attacking Nick whenever he got back into the match. Even with the injury scare, The Young Bucks went on to win the match.
Speaking on the latest episode of Being The Elite, Nick said he was taken to the trainer’s room after the match and had to complete several concussion tests.
“I went to the trainer’s room, of course, obviously, and so, I had to take multiple concussion tests, and I passed, so that’s good. They said I definitely had my bell rung. But I had a lot of dizziness,” Nick said.
Nick also revealed that he has been dealing with a neck injury since AEW Forbidden Door in San Jose. He explained that he landed directly on his head during that event. Doctors ruled out a concussion and instead diagnosed him with whiplash. Since then, he has occasionally felt foggy because of the neck injury.
“The last pay-per-view, you could even show this…the clip you have. I landed right on my head in. Where was that? San Jose, right? Landed right on my head and that was not a concussion or anything. It was considered a whiplash injury so, ever since then though, I’ve had these weird effects where I feel kind of like foggy, because of the neck. I didn’t have any vision issues or any of that but, today, it felt very similar to what I was experiencing last month. But now I feel a lot better,” Nick said.
He added that doctors told him his recovery might be taking longer because of his diet and hydration.
“The doctor said that I’m probably not healing fast enough because I’m not having enough carbs,” Nick said.
After beating Moxley and Ospreay, Matt and Nick confronted AEW World Tag Team Champions Cope and Christian Cage. AEW later confirmed that the two teams would meet at AEW All In with the tag team titles on the line.
