The May 5, 2026, episode of WWE NXT ended on a wild note that could change the title scene. Will Kroos, who just joined the brand, made a big impact again by attacking Tony D’Angelo and also revealed his new WWE name as the show ended.
This wasn’t the first time he went after the NXT Champion. He debuted just a week ago and landed a moonsault on D’Angelo. However, last week, he was presented as a random fan from the crowd, and commentators received some backlash online for that as well.
But this week, Kroos took it upon himself to introduce himself.

The main event saw Tony D’Angelo face Tavion Heights. Heights started strong with moves like waistlocks and takedowns to control things early. D’Angelo fought back.
As the match went on, Heights showed his athletic side with a Karelin lift and a flying elbow that almost got the win. A diving splash also came close, but D’Angelo stayed in it. Both men exchanged heavy moves like German suplexes and belly-to-belly throws. Just when things were heating up, outside interference came in.
Kam Hendrix showed up to distract D’Angelo, but Myles Borne stepped in and took Hendrix out. In the end, the distraction didn’t help Heights, as D’Angelo recovered and won the match with a strong chokeslam.
After the match, D’Angelo showed respect by helping Heights up. It looked like things were ending on a positive note.
But suddenly, Will Kroos rushed into the ring and threw D’Angelo onto Heights. Commentator Vic Joseph called him “the same guy from last week,” while Booker T thought he was “a fan.” Joseph even screamed, “Who the hell is this guy?”
Just then, Kroos looked into the camera and revealed his new WWE name. “My name is Mason Rook. And I have arrived in NXT,” he said to the camera.
This moment confirmed his new identity. From now on, Will Kroos will be known as Mason Rook. WWE often changes names when talent joins, and this is part of that process.
