The rivalry between Bron Breakker and Seth Rollins has taken another turn ahead of WWE Backlash. Breakker offered insight into why their alliance came crashing down.
The timing of the revelation adds another layer to a feud that has already recorded its share of blindsides and paybacks.
Much like a well-timed Spear, the explanation didn’t come out of nowhere — it just hit when it mattered most.
Bron Breakker explains the betrayal of Seth Rollins before WWE Backlash clash
Speaking on SportsCenter, Breakker addressed the fallout from their time together in The Vision. The faction united him with Rollins and Paul Heyman as they looked to establish their dominance.
According to Breakker, the split wasn’t just a sudden decision — it was something he anticipated.
“But things went a little astray along the way… I just had this feeling at some point or another Seth was going to either turn his back on me or pull the rug on me,” Breakker said. He added that he believed Rollins would act if things didn’t align with “his vision” for the group.
Rather than wait, Breakker chose to strike first. “So I just beat him to it really,” he stated. The former Intercontinental Champion framed the betrayal as a preemptive move rather than a reaction.
Their partnership had been central to WWE programming through 2025. However, it unraveled when Breakker and Bronson Reed turned on Rollins in October. Since then, the rivalry has only escalated. At the 2026 Royal Rumble, Breakker became subject to an attack during his entrance by a masked figure who delivered a Stomp on the floor, leading to his quick elimination. Rollins emerged as the culprit who had been targeting The Vision while recovering from injury.
Rollins returned at Elimination Chamber earlier this year after recovering from injury. He revealed himself as the masked figure targeting The Vision.
The feud escalated again at WrestleMania 42, where Breakker returned the favor by costing Rollins a major match, further deepening the bad blood between them.
The tension reached another peak on the May 4 episode of RAW, where Breakker speared Rollins twice during separate segments. The repeated attacks served as a reminder that this feud isn’t cooling off — it’s only gaining momentum heading into Backlash on May 9 in Tampa.
With both men trading physical and verbal shots, the upcoming match carries more than just bragging rights. It’s a clash built on distrust, timing, and the idea that in WWE, sometimes the best defense is a well-placed betrayal — especially when you see it coming.
