Anna Jay has had enough of the speculation surrounding her AEW status.
After being away from in-ring competition since November 2025, Anna Jay will return to action on this Saturday’s episode of AEW Collision in Peoria, Illinois. She will challenge Willow Nightingale for the TBS Championship at the event.
However, Anna Jay had to set things straight about her status with AEW ahead of her return. While reviewing this week’s episode of Dynamite on Fightful’s YouTube channel, Sean Ross Sapp responded to a fan who asked if Jay planned “to hear out WWE and negotiate herself.” Sapp said he could not say anything for sure, noting that he did not know whether she had re-signed with AEW.
Months ago, Sapp said she was frustrated about not being in the Blood & Guts match and vocalized her feelings about wanting to be featured more. He also noted that she was “very clear that she had Shawn Michaels’ number and would use it if needed.” However, he did not offer any further context about that statement. Despite that, he noted that Anna Jay is definitely a talent that WWE would like to sign and bring to NXT.
Anna Jay shot down the claims
Responding to a fan account on X/Twitter that shared Sean Ross Sapp’s comments, Anna Jay publicly denied the claims, stating that they are inaccurate.
“I don’t know where this information is coming from, and you don’t know what you’re talking about. Please shut up. See you guys on collision Saturday,” she wrote.
Rumors about Anna Jay potentially leaving the promotion arose after previous reports noted that her AEW contract is set to expire this year. She has seemingly set the record straight, although she did not specify what part of the statement(s) she was refuting. It will be interesting to see how the company uses her following her return on this week’s Collision.
Update: Sapp says that his information came directly from the agents/representatives who backed her at the time. Sapp said they have now reached out and said that Jay is handling her new deal herself. He also reached out to Anna Jay herself to clarify where the information originated.
