Santos Escobar was recently released by WWE. The news came shortly after his surgery. He had undergone a procedure for a torn triceps, and the timing raised questions immediately.
Escobar had re-signed with WWE in October last year. Reports described it as a significant deal. Before that, there were talks of him joining CMLL, but the move never happened, and instead, he stayed with WWE.
During his second run, Santos Escobar did not appear regularly on main roster television. Escobar was instead featured in AAA-related programming. Recently, he suffered a triceps injury. He was allowed to use the Performance Center for rehab, but now the situation seems to have changed.
Santos Escobar is reportedly denied access to the WWE Performance Center for rehab
Initially, it was expected that Escobar would be able to use the Performance Center for rehabilitation during his non-compete period. That has been the usual process for released talent. However, a new report indicated a change in that situation.
The update was shared by Sean Ross Sapp. On X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote, “Sources that I spoke to for Fightful Select claim that CMLL believed Santos Escobar was coming on board last year before re-signing with WWE. We’re told that WWE actually is not permitting him to use the Performance Center to rehab his injury.”
Escobar is currently recovering from surgery. Reports suggest he may be healed or close to cleared by the end of his 90-day non-compete period. But without access to WWE facilities, the rehab process could be different.
It may not be as smooth, and that could affect the timeline. At the same time, previous discussions involving CMLL may resume following his release.
