Hulk Hogan Shares Regret Over Controversial OJ Simpson Comments in Final Interview

WWE legend Hulk Hogan wished he had never made those controversial OJ Simpson comments back in 2009.

Netflix’s Hulk Hogan: Real American documentary features the WWE Hall of Famer’s final interview before his passing last year. In episode four, he looked back at his messy divorce from his first wife, Linda. It was at this time that he gave an interview for Rolling Stone, in which he compared his emotional state to that of OJ Simpson.

In the interview, Hulk Hogan expressed extreme frustration over Linda dating a much younger man, and noted that he could’ve turned everything into a crime scene like OJ Simpson. Speaking in the documentary, he expressed regret for making those comments.

“I spent three days with Rolling Stone. I thought the guy was my friend. He warmed up to me, we became buddies, and all of a sudden, we’re sitting on my back porch and drinking beer on the beach, and had a little buzz on, and he asked me about OJ Simpson,” Hulk Hogan began.

Hogan says he tried to explain how he understood someone getting to that point. However, he never meant to make anyone worry that he might take similar action.

“I said, ‘Wow, brother. I’ve been that jealous and mad at a girl that I completely understand how he flipped out.’ But I would never do that, I would never go there. I wish I’d never done the interview with Rolling Stone. I went home, and I started drinking and started eating pills. And I just went down this rabbit hole for a couple of days. And the next thing I know, I’m in front of my bathroom with a gun in my mouth and not knowing what I was doing,” Hulk Hogan said.
