Nick Hogan recently spoke about watching the new Hulk Hogan: Real American.
The docuseries focuses on his father, Hulk Hogan. It tells the story of his rise from a young boy in Florida to one of wrestling’s biggest icons. The four-part documentary shows his injuries, personal battles, and major controversies over the years.
For Nick, this wasn’t just another documentary. He admitted it was hard to watch, as some moments stayed with him longer than expected. Some scenes just hit differently, especially the ones fans don’t usually see.
Nick Hogan opens up on emotional experience watching Hulk Hogan documentary
Speaking on 83 Weeks with Eric Bischoff, Nick Hogan explained what made it so difficult. He then described how emotional the entire process was for him.
“It was a really difficult process for me. And even just a week and a half ago in Las Vegas, at WrestleMania and everything that was there, it was overwhelming at the time. It was so exciting to see dad be honored in such a tremendous way.”
“And there were moments where, even walking through the Hulkamania exhibit at WWE World, being surrounded by so many of these moments in his life and these turning points in his career that were just such monumental things to happen to him, you become overwhelmed. And that was kind of the same thing with the documentary.”
“It was the first time that I saw it all the way through. And working on it was a little bit more zoomed-in of a process and a little bit more, I’d say, tedious or nitpicky, where you’re really just splitting fine hair.” He continued, explaining how different it felt watching the full series at once.
“You’re not digesting the whole thing. So when you do look at the whole thing in one shot, I was originally it was late I was going to say, ‘Oh, I’m going to watch the first episode tonight. I’ll finish it tomorrow.’ Well, of course, I watched the entire thing all the way through.
“And then that night of sleep was rough because it just brought back such a flood of memories. It was like I was having the craziest dreams about being with my dad and these memories coming back. It was like a roller coaster of emotions for the first 24 hours after I had seen it all in completion. And that still happens. Even when I watch it I watched it the other day all the way through again and it was just tough. It’s beautiful. It’s amazing.”
