Shawn Michaels Reveals Major Change To WWE Show Format

Shawn Michaels has revealed a major format change to WWE LFG.

WWE LFG returned for a third season on Sunday, April 26, on A&E. However, the show’s format underwent a complete change, as Shawn Michaels revealed during the opening segment that their priority now is to build talent over a competition series. He said injuries and roster changes were reasons WWE needs more NXT-ready talent available at any time.

Therefore, LFG competitors are no longer competing for a single contract. Now, talent can get called up to WWE NXT TV at any point in the season. The format change comes after the promotion released Season 1 winner Tyra Mae Steele on April 24.

The first two seasons of WWE LFG featured contestants split into teams led by coaches. They earned points each week and worked towards winning a contract at the end. In another significant change, instead of having only retired legends as coaches, the promotion has brought in current superstars Natalya and Kevin Owens as coaches for Season 3. Owens is currently out of action recovering from a neck injury.
