WWE‘s Seth Rollins admitted that his viral stunt on Good Morning Football ahead of the NFL Draft was a work.
Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has been a recurring guest on Good Morning Football on the NFL Network. However, his appearance on yesterday’s episode turned chaotic when he walked off the set after host Kyle Brandt took repeated shots at him and brought up his wife, Becky Lynch.
While fans speculated whether the stunt could be a work, Seth Rollins confirmed it was the case when he appeared on the show today and hugged it out with Kyle Brandt. Brandt also posted a picture with Rollins on X/Twitter.
“I love Seth Rollins. I love him on the show, I love him in the ring, I love him as a person, and I love him as a wrestler,” Kyle Brandt said. Rollins replied, saying, “I’m doing great. I’ve never been more proud of you in my entire life.”
Kyle Brandt then admitted to Seth Rollins that it’s not easy being the bad guy and revealed that his last 24 hours were pretty hectic. “I have huge respect (for) all those who have done it, yourself included. Holy crap! I’m half of what I used to be, man. Seth, the texts that I have gotten over the last 24 hours! I had a Pro Football Hall of Famer text me yesterday, and be like, ‘Oh my God! What the heck was that? Are you alright?’
Seth Rollins says a high-ranking WWE official almost got involved
Speaking further, Seth Rollins revealed that after yesterday’s stunt, a high-ranking WWE official asked him if he needed to get involved to sort things out with GMFB. He also clarified it wasn’t Triple H.
“I had a very, very high-ranking official in my own company; I won’t name names, send me a voice note, making sure that he didn’t have to get involved with Good Morning Football,” Seth Rollins said.
Seth Rollins also revealed that the whole thing was Kyle Brandt’s idea and apologized to co-hosts Jamie Erdahl and Manti Te’o. The latter spoke about how chaotic the last 24 hours were for him and also playfully admitted that wrestling is way harder than playing in the NFL.
Kyle Brandt confirmed the stunt was not for a potential WWE program
Kyle Brandt then revealed that no one in ESPN, WWE, or the NFL Network asked them to do the stunt. He also praised Seth Rollins’ commitment to the bit, saying he kept kayfabe by staying away from him when they were at a bar area near the Draft Theater, and even shared a picture.
Brandt also noted that he received threatening messages from Seth Rollins’ fans.
“Jamie, I learned something about Seth yesterday. Seth, you have so many fans. These people are messaging me, like, not with promises of physical violence, like they are going to meet me and hurt me physically. Don’t guys, please.” Seth Rollins then chimed in, saying,” Yeah, don’t. He’s a friend, he’s a good brother. I’m very proud of him. It was hard for him, and it was very difficult. He didn’t understand what the reaction was gonna be. He didn’t know what he was getting himself into, and now he understands, and I’m very proud of him.”
