Taryn Terrell is on cloud nine after her TNA return, and she doesn’t want the feeling to go away any time soon.
The former Knockouts Champion returned to TNA last month, coming to the aid of Mickie James and ODB at Sacrifice in New Orleans. Terrell told WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard that “electric” would be the one word she’d use to describe her return. She also wants the feeling to last as long as possible.
“There is just no feeling like standing in that ring and connecting with the audience and the fans. I feel like it’s such a blessing that I am absolutely not taking for granted, just to be able to be back in there. It’s really hard to describe,” she explained, “other than you’re on cloud nine. But my little cloud is just floating around, and I’m not coming off this cloud. I’m just gonna stay on it.”
Terrell initially started a feud on social media with The Elegance brand in January, calling out Ash by Elegance for trashing the Knockouts’ legacy. Terrell didn’t appear on TNA TV until March. However, her return has been in the works since January, with New Orleans being the plan the whole time.
“New Orleans was always the plan. I live here, and I was going to come to the New Orleans show regardless. I wanted to take my kids and just show them, ‘Hey, look what mom was a part of for so long.’ And then I saw the things and the tweets and, and watching Ash by Elegance and all of the craziness that was kind of surrounding her, and it’s like, listen, we didn’t leave this company to leave it in the hands of people like her, and the Elegance brand. So, it evolved into this, and New Orleans was the perfect pinnacle for this to actually take place.”
Taryn Terrell is on one more adventure
Taryn Terrell said that having her children along for the ride was another reason that motivated her to return to TNA. She doesn’t believe pro wrestlers ever retire. Now, she can also teach her kids that they don’t have to give up on something important that makes them happy.
“I’m always up for an adventure. So it’s like, well, let’s go on one more adventure ride here. I get to show [them] what was so important to me, and what built me as a human, and as an adult and sort of give them a front row seat to that.”
Terrell is set to compete in her first TNA match in almost nine years, and first overall since 2022. She’s not approaching the match as a “reminder” for fans, but actually views it as a fun opportunity for her.
“I don’t think I’m going out with the mentality that, ‘Hey, remember me.’ This is just who I am. So, if you remember who I am, awesome. And if you don’t, or you weren’t a wrestling fan back then, then you’ll just get a really fun window into who I am,” she explained. “I don’t have anything to prove, you know, but this is fun for me. Weapons are fun for me. That’s a weird thing to say, right? But, hardcore matches are the things that have shaped me as a wrestler. I get to take everyone along for the ride in that.”
Terrell says planning her match, a Hardcore County tag team match, is something she thinks about every single day, from her strategy to what weapons to use. She knows the audience will be hungry for a match like this, and she’s “ready to give to them exactly what they want.”
How long will Taryn Terrell stick around with TNA this time?
As far as how long her return will last, Terrell said she has nothing scheduled after Cleveland. Despite that, she’s certainly open to returning and teased that fans will just have to stay tuned.
“My life is in a place where I have the freedom and the time. And as a mom, I am able to really go back and dedicate time to the things that I am passionate about. My kids are at the point where they want to go hang out with their friends instead of hang out with mom all the time. I hope there’s never a time in my life that I say I’m done done with wrestling. I hope that never happens, but we’ll see. I’m open to it, and we’ll just see what the future brings,” Terrell said.
“I will be riding home high, that’s for sure,” she added. “High on life, high on happiness, because [The Elegance Brand] is going down.”
