WWE Criticized For Ruining The Surprise of Gimmick Returning at WrestleMania

Fans are criticizing WWE for being too hasty with revealing the return of an iconic gimmick at WrestleMania 42.

After his former Judgment Day partners kicked him out of the faction, Finn Balor returned on the March 23 episode of WWE RAW to cost Dominik Mysterio his Intercontinental Championship rematch against Penta. Balor then announced the following week that he would face Mysterio at WrestleMania 42.

This week’s episode of RAW featured the latest developments in the storyline when Dominik Mysterio attacked Finn Balor before his match against JD McDonagh. Later in the show, Balor appeared in a backstage segment and teased bringing back his iconic Demon King persona for his clash against Mysterio at WrestleMania 42. WWE later confirmed the gimmick’s return with an official announcement on X/Twitter.

However, the decision didn’t go well with fans, who criticized WWE for being too hasty, saying Finn Balor coming out as the Demon King at WrestleMania 42 would’ve been a bigger surprise if they had done it at the event without prior announcement.

“How can be you guys So Dumb it can be a bigger surprise at WrestleMania,” one fan wrote.

“Ticket Sales So Low, They had to Spoil Demon’s Arrival,” another commented.

“Are ya’ll allergic to surprises? I woulda loved seeing it at Mania,” another fan replied.

The last time Finn Balor appeared as the Demon King in WWE was at WrestleMania 39, where he competed against Edge in a Hell in a Cell match. WrestleMania 42 will also feature the third time he competes in a singles match at the PLE, and the first time he’s had one since the one against Edge in 2023. His current record at the event is 1-4.
