As bitter rivals, there is no love lost between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre. Still, McIntyre does actually have something nice to say about “The Second City Saint.”
While appearing on Insight With Chris Van Vliet, McIntyre addressed his current feelings toward Punk, who reigns as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. To no surprise, McIntyre reiterated his hatred toward Punk.
He did, however, lace something positive into his response as well.
“A piece of crap. Can’t stand him,” McIntyre said. “I watch him every week, and I see he is doing good things with the world title, good for you. That’s a good run right there. As a fighting champion, I think fighting champions are stupid, because I was one, and why would you defend it all the time? That’s just disrespectful to the title. The opponent should earn it. So I did it before, that’s why I can say that stuff. But at the same time, he’s nowhere close to what he did with me, and it pains me to admit I’m still chasing the dragon for what I did with him. So opposites attract.”
As McIntyre alluded to, Punk has prided himself on being a defending champion during his World Heavyweight Championship reign, with AJ Styles, Bron Breakker, and Finn Balor emerging as recent challengers. Looking ahead, Punk will put the title on the line once more, this time against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42.
In McIntyre’s case, he will face “The Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu in an Unsanctioned Match at the grand event.
It seems like McIntyre never hesitates to take a shot at the current WWE World Champion, but he recently said there is one thing that he’ll never make fun of CM Punk for.
