Chris Jericho made a surprise return on the April 1, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite, and it became one of the most talked-about moments of the episode. Now, the veteran has also given a glimpse of what happened just before that return in his recent video.
This week’s Dynamite started with Tony Schiavone getting ready for a contract signing between MJF and Kenny Omega for their match at AEW Dynasty. But before anything could happen, Jericho’s theme song “Judas” hit.
The crowd in Winnipeg went crazy as Jericho came out. Since no one knew he was coming back, the reaction felt even bigger. He stood in the ring for a while, enjoying the moment, and then simply said, “Winnipeg… AEW… I’m home.”
After that, he left just as quickly.
Chris Jericho posted “join the ride” video ahead of AEW Dynamite return
Soon after the show, Jericho shared a behind-the-scenes video on Instagram. The clip was filmed in a parking garage at the Canada Life Centre in his hometown of Winnipeg. In the video, he talks about his plan to surprise everyone just minutes later.
“Alright, here I am in the parking garage of the MTS Center in Winnipeg. It is 6:50 and in 10 minutes, I’m going to shock the world by returning to AEW. Join the ride!” Jericho said in the video.
This was Jericho’s first AEW appearance since April 2025, when he lost the ROH World Title to Bandido at AEW Dynasty. After that, he took a break from TV and focused on touring with his band. There were even rumors that he might leave AEW, especially since his contract was said to be ending in late 2025.
But his return shows that he is still part of AEW. There are also reports that his contract may have been updated, and he recently filed a trademark for “The Cornerstone,” which could hint at a new character.
