Former WWE Star Announces Power Slap Debut

A former WWE World Heavyweight Champion is preparing for a new kind of spotlight during WrestleMania week. This time, it won’t involve a ring or a referee’s count.

The move marks a surprising shift following his recent departure from professional wrestling.

Earlier this month, Jack Swagger — also known as Jake Hager — confirmed he signed with UFC Power Slap.

The 44-year-old revealed he will make his debut on April 17 in Las Vegas. This places him right in the middle of WrestleMania week — a fitting stage, even if the rules are a little different this time.

In a video shared by Power Slap’s official social media, Hager promoted his upcoming debut and confirmed he will compete in the heavyweight division. “I think I’m a perfect fit for this company,” he said, adding that he aims to contribute to the promotion’s growth. It’s a new arena, but the confidence sounds familiar — some habits don’t tap out easily.

Hager’s transition comes after he announced his retirement from professional wrestling in August 2025. His career included a run in WWE as Jack Swagger. He captured the World Heavyweight Championship, followed by time in AEW under his real name.

Outside of wrestling, Hager also competed in Bellator MMA, recording multiple wins as a heavyweight. That background may provide a foundation for his latest move, though Power Slap presents a very different kind of challenge — less grappling, more trading blows, and no room for a rope break.

Reports indicate he has signed a multi-appearance deal and is scheduled to face Devin Jenkins in his debut bout. The event, Power Slap 19, will take place at The Chelsea inside The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

With his debut set just one night before WrestleMania 42, Hager’s return to a combat stage ensures he remains part of the wider conversation — even if this time, the only tag involved is a slap.
