Chris Jericho is still not back in pro wrestling. Despite his ongoing absence, it seems like fans could see him return sooner rather than later.
Jericho recently trademarked “Cornerstone,” which led to plenty of speculation about his status in the wrestling world. According to a new report from Fightful (via Fightful Select), AEW sources believe Jericho will be back in the company. It was noted that the context of the new trademark would make more sense in AEW. There’s also been talk that he could be back in AEW as soon as Wednesday night’s episode of Dynamite.
Despite not having a definite confirmation on his status, Fightful reports that Jericho and AEW have at least discussed his return in the past couple of months.
Has Chris Jericho discussed returning to WWE?
There’s been no update about Chris Jericho returning to WWE recently. While there have been talks between the two sides, it was denied that WWE ever had creative plans for him. Furthermore, Fightful noted that Jericho was never planned for the WWE Raw on Netflix anniversary, the Royal Rumble, or the Elimination Chamber. It was heavily speculated that Jericho might appear at each respective event, but that clearly was never the case.
According to a follow-up comment from F4WOnline.com’s Dave Meltzer, WWE sources said fans should not expect Jericho in WWE “any time soon, if ever.” It was noted that this statement was made around the same time that Jericho filed the new trademark.
For what it’s worth, AEW Dynamite takes place at the Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, on Wednesday night. Winnipeg happens to be Jericho’s hometown.
Jericho will be in New York on Thursday and Friday for concerts with his KISS cover band, Kuarantine. The band will play in Cohoes, New York, on Thursday night, followed by a stop in Rome, New York, on Friday. The first concert is about a 6-hour flight from Winnipeg.
Despite his absence and speculation about his future, Chris Jericho is still listed on the AEW roster page.
UPDATE: Fightful is also reporting that Jericho was scheduled to travel to Winnipeg on Tuesday night.
