AEW World Champion MJF compared Bryan Danielson to NFL legend Tom Brady.
Danielson has not competed in a full match since October 2024, but he has stayed active on AEW TV in limited roles. The last time he was seen in action was at AEW All In Texas where he hit a Busaiku Knee on Wheeler Yuta.
His in-ring return is still remains uncertain. However, MJF called Bryan Danielson the greatest of all time. He also said Danielson could return from retirement one day and compared him to Tom Brady.
MJF compares Bryan Danielson to Tom Brady
Speaking on Julian Edelman’s Games With Names podcast, MJF discussed about his iconic Iron Man match at AEW Revolution 2023 against Bryan Danielson. He said, “Bryan Danielson is considered the greatest bell-to-bell professional wrestler of all time by a lot of people. He’s on that Mount Rushmore of that specific not the overall package.”
He continued, “So he is one of the greatest technical, in-ring technicians of all time. He is a freak athlete, he’s tough as nails, and he really put me through it that night. I mean, incredible. And again, 42 is the typical age for most top guys in my sport.”
When asked for an NFL comparison, MJF said, “That’s like a Tom Brady level. Wow. He’s Tom Brady. I would say he’s Tom Brady, definitely GOAT status. He’s sort of retired right now. I don’t know if he’ll ever come out of retirement.”
“He’s a sicko, so he probably will because he can never get enough, much like Brady. And if you talk to wrestling fans and ask who’s one of the greatest wrestlers bell-to-bell of all time, the GOAT, they’ll say Dragon.”
MJF also admitted that one thing about Danielson annoyed him. “It pissed me off that he thought I wasn’t going to be able to hang in there for an hour with him. It made me genuinely angry because he was the one that wanted to have the match, thinking it would put me at a disadvantage. Little did he know that he was dead wrong.”
