AEW’s Chris Jericho Addresses How Much Longer He Will Wrestle

Chris Jericho’s future in pro wrestling remains a topic of discussion, but the veteran has now made one thing clear — if the end is coming, it won’t follow a traditional script.

In a recent interview with GamesHub, Chris Jericho reflected on his career longevity and current mindset. He offered insight into how he views the idea of winding things down.

Chris Jericho addresses retirement plans and wrestling longevity

Jericho, now 55 and 35 years into his career, stated he still has “some career left to go.” Nevertheless, he stopped short of putting a firm timeline on it. “I don’t know if it’s a year, two years, four years,” he said. Jericho emphasized that his path forward isn’t locked in.

What stood out, however, is what he didn’t commit to. Despite speculation about a possible return elsewhere for a farewell run, Jericho’s comments suggest he’s not interested in a drawn-out retirement tour. No farewell speeches, no “last match ever” banners, just business as usual until it isn’t.

Instead, the AEW star focused on the bigger picture — longevity in modern wrestling. He pointed to the increasing physical demands of today’s in-ring style as a concern. The former WWE star noted that it may shorten careers compared to previous eras.

Jericho believes relying on the past kills creativity. He compares leaning on old gimmicks to KISS never taking off their makeup, saying, “If you leave the makeup on forever, you die. You have to try something new, commit to it, and most of the time it works.”

According to him, balancing risk and performance is key, something he learned early after a dangerous in-ring incident left him injured.

He explained that moments like that changed how he approached wrestling, becoming more selective about what risks were worth taking. In a business where everyone wants to steal the show, Jericho’s approach is more about stealing time — adding years instead of just highlights.

Outside the ring, Jericho has remained active through television projects and touring with his band, Fozzy, keeping himself busy while his in-ring future remains fluid.

For now, Jericho isn’t closing the book — he’s just not announcing the final chapter either. And if history is any guide, he’ll likely write his exit on his own terms, without turning it into a greatest hits tour.
