Steve Austin is preparing for battle, but it’s not in the ring.
Today is March 16, or “3:16 Day” to pro wrestling fans. WWE RAW is taking place in San Antonio, Texas, which is Austin’s home state. For those reasons, there has been speculation that Steve Austin might appear on WWE RAW this week.
WrestleVotes (via Fightful Select) recently reported that WWE was hopeful Austin would appear on the show. However, it doesn’t seem like that’s happening. Austin took part in a new interview with Zack Heydorn of The TakeDown on SI, sharing that he’s at home in Nevada preparing for a car race he’s entering.
Steve Austin is getting ready for an important race in Nevada
“Man, they should tune in because they love WWE and Monday Night Raw,” Austin said (H/T F4WOnline.com) when asked if WWE fans will have a special reason to watch RAW. “I’ll be a few days out from that race, the race I’m talking about with my racing career, and we’re trying to get that car ready and we’re working our asses off. So, yeah, I’ll be hunkered down in a garage out here in BFE, Nevada trying to get this buggy ready — side-by-side utility vehicle — to race this grueling 250 mile race with everybody else that I race with. So I want to get out there and put my own show on in the desert.”
Despite ruling out an appearance on RAW, Austin will be at WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas. Austin currently lives in Nevada, where he started his own racing team. He’ll be making a special appearance at WWE World at WrestleMania 42. Austin hasn’t been confirmed for an appearance at either night of WrestleMania 42, but he did make a short cameo at WrestleMania 41, where he announced the night two attendance. That segment went viral after Austin accidentally crashed his ATV into the ringside barricade.
