WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was noticeably missing from the In Memoriam tribute during the 2026 Oscars.
Fans noticed it right away. Some were surprised, while others were confused. Hulk Hogan, whose real name was Terry Bollea, died on July 24, 2025. He was 71, and reports said cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida, caused his death.
The annual In Memoriam segment usually honors actors, filmmakers, and industry figures. It recognizes those who died during the previous year. However, when the ceremony aired, Hogan’s name never appeared.
That stood out because Hogan actually had a long connection to Hollywood. Maybe not traditional Oscar films. Still, he worked in movies and television for decades. His acting debut came in 1982’s Rocky III.
He played Thunderlips, a massive wrestling champion. The character faced Rocky Balboa in a charity exhibition match. The scene became one of the film’s most memorable moments. After the success of Rocky III, Hogan continued appearing on screen.
He starred as Rip Thomas in No Holds Barred. The wrestling-themed action film came out during the height of his popularity. He later appeared in several other projects over the years. Hogan also made cameo appearances in films like Gremlins 2: The New Batch and Muppets from Space.
While some roles were small but it was part of Hollywood films. Hogan’s absence from the tribute caught fans attention. And it wasn’t just the televised segment either. The omission also appeared on the official list published by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on its website.
Either way, many fans noticed the absence. Hogan spent years appearing in films and pop culture.
