The March 13 episode of WWE SmackDown took a turn when Drew McIntyre returned later in the night, despite saying he had quit the show earlier.
The night started with McIntyre wanting some answers from General Manager Nick Aldis after losing the Undisputed WWE Championship to Cody Rhodes the previous week. Aldis came out to address him, but he made it clear that the result of the match would not be changed. Aldis also said McIntyre needed to take responsibility for his own actions during the rivalry with Rhodes.
Things got even more intense when Jacob Fatu walked down to the ring and admitted he was the reason the Scotsman lost the title. McIntyre, instead of fighting back, left the arena saying, “I quit.”
Later, he was seen venting out his emotions and ranting about why he chose not to fight Fatu in the ring.
But that wasn’t the end of the story.
Drew McIntyre Attacks Jacob Fatu During Trick Williams Match
The final match of the night featured Trick Williams facing Fatu in a singles match. The two stars went back and forth and had the crowd chanting, “This is awesome.”
Just when the match was reaching its final moments, McIntyre suddenly returned. With the referee distracted, he attacked Jacob Fatu from behind and changed the momentum of the match.
Drew McIntyre dragged Fatu outside the ring and hit him face-first into the ring post. Then he pushed him back in the ring. Williams quickly took advantage of the situation and hit his Trick Shot finisher to win the match.
Even after the bell rang, McIntyre wasn’t done. He followed up with a Claymore Kick on Fatu and stood tall over him.
The fallout from losing the championship is far from over. Nick Aldis later announced that Drew McIntyre will face Jacob Fatu in a singles match on next week’s SmackDown.
