Booker T reacts to Drew McIntyre dropping the WWE title on the Road to WrestleMania 42.
The March 6 episode of WWE SmackDown ended with Cody Rhodes defeating Drew McIntyre for the Undisputed WWE Championship. With the win, Rhodes replaced McIntyre as champion heading into WrestleMania 42, where he is set to defend the title against the 2026 WWE Elimination Chamber winner, Randy Orton.
WWE reportedly had a different direction planned for Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 42, as creative initially wanted to pit The Scottish Warrior against The American Nightmare inside Hell in a Cell for the top title.
With Cody Rhodes now confirmed to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42, Drew McIntyre is rumored to renew his rivalry with Jacob Fatu on the Showcase of the Immortals.
Booker T comments on Drew McIntyre’s WWE Title loss
During a recent episode of the Hall of Fame Podcast, former World Heavyweight Champion Booker T shared his thoughts on McIntyre losing the Undisputed WWE Championship just as WrestleMania 42 is around the corner.
“It’s got to be tough. Yeah, I wouldn’t want to be in that position. No one does. But that’s the business. That’s just part of the business, playing the cards that you’re dealt.
“I’m sure that time is gonna come back around for Drew McIntyre. If not, I’m not gonna worry about Drew McIntyre or anything like that, because the dude can write his own ticket. He can do whatever he wants in this business.
“I’m sure it’s disappointing to him to have to drop that strap so close to WrestleMania, because that’s every wrestler’s ultimate dream, I would imagine. Walking out of WrestleMania as champion, or walking into WrestleMania the challenger, and you win the championship. I would imagine. Yeah so, I’m sure he’s feeling it,” Booker T said.
